Hello,
and welcome to Podmasana. My name is Brendon Orr and I want to begin by simply saying thank you. Thank you for being here, for pressing play, for being curious enough to explore what this podcast might offer you.
Podmasana is more than a podcast to me. It's a journey I've been on for years and one I'm deeply honored to now share with you. This is a space dedicated to exploring the landscape of human spirituality, weaving together ancient wisdom and modern understanding, academic rigor and transformative personal insight.
through authentic conversations with teachers, scholars, practitioners, business owners, and seekers, we'll explore the intricate connections between timeless practices and contemporary life.
Podmasana's mission is to explore the evolution and history of ancient mindfulness, spiritual practices, and wisdom traditions, along with their modern applications, fostering learning, self-discovery, and collective growth through researched history.
expert interviews, and personal narratives. My vision for Podmasana is to create a global community of spiritually aware and mindful individuals. People like you, who are exploring spirituality and wellness, and who are inspired by those leading the way to a more connected and enlightened world.
I believe that spirituality is deeply connected to human evolution. That our capacity for awareness, compassion, and transcendence is part of how we grow as a species.
We live in times of profound upheaval, social and cultural divisions, economic uncertainty, environmental crises, and conflicts that may shake our faith in humanity.
Yet in these very challenges, I see an invitation. Each of us has the choice to find our inner light, to keep it lit even in darkness, and to share it with others. This isn't escapism. It's the most practical, urgent work we can do.
When we tend to our own spiritual growth, we don't retreat from the world's problems. We become more capable of addressing them with wisdom, compassion, and clarity.
I believe deeply that by understanding spirituality, mindfulness and wisdom, how they evolved and are practiced today, we can lead more connected, healthy and mindful lives, inspiring a better world for tomorrow.
This is the core of Podmasana's mission. And it's what guides every conversation we'll have here.
In upcoming episodes, you'll hear conversations that bridge the clinical and the contemplative, the ancient and the urgent. We explore spirituality in the age of materialism and the power of your mind. Examining how we navigate spiritual life in a material and noisy world. We journey from grief to grace through a doctor's spiritual awakening. Hearing how devastating personal losses
open doorways to profound transformation. We discover how practicing and teaching yoga can be a healing sanctuary for navigating trauma and self-compassion. And we also dive into making the Bhagavad Gita more accessible, learning how ancient wisdom speaks to contemporary challenges when presented with clarity and heart.
With each conversation, listeners like you are welcome to explore, to inquire, and to discover what resonates with their own journey without any imposition or expectation of adopting a particular belief system.
Before I go any further, I need to express my deepest gratitude to the people who made this possible. To my family, thank you for your patience, your encouragement, and your belief in this vision even when it was just an idea. Your support has been the foundation on which everything else is built.
To my friends and peers who listened to early concepts, offered feedback, challenged my thinking, and saw why this work matters. Thank you for walking alongside me.
and to my spiritual guides and teachers, those I've met in person and those I've encountered through books, practices, and moments of unexpected wisdom. Thank you for illuminating the path.
Your wisdom lives in every question I ask and every conversation I facilitate.
Now I want to extend an invitation to you, dear listener.
